Cataract Operation

Many people who think they might have to go through a cataract operation, wonder why they have gotten cataracts and if there was anything that they could do not to have gotten this kind of disease in the first place, as well as what is this cataract that they have, which is decreasing their vision. Many patients who have cataracts will find out, if they are experiencing symptoms , that they will have a clouding, that will be on the inside lens of their eyes(or eye), that will actually decrease your vision. Many forms of cataracts are just something that happens as people grow older, with this said it is also known that people who are older tend to more often have cataracts, then people that are younger. A stunning statistic is that around 50% of all Americans that have grown to the age of eighty years old have either had a cataracts surgery, or had cataract the disease still in their lives. Finding out if you are going to have cataracts is very hard, almost everyone will have it if they are to live until they are to be an 80 year old. Surgery is the only option currently, beyond eye drops that is.
Also good to know, is that a cataract can either appear in only one eye, or both of your eyes at the same time. Something that is reliving to most people, who have cataract in one eye, is that even though that you have cataract in one eye, it is not possible to “spread” cataract to your eye that is still doing healthy. The part that is affected inside of your eye is called the lens; your lens is the clear part of your eyeball. The job of this in your body is to make sure it can focus on types of light, as well as different images, and then have them travel through to the retina. What the retina is for all of us that did not know is the light – sensitive area (tissue) that is located in the back part of your eyeball. For someone with a normal eye, the light just passes through as it is suppose to, and then goes from the actual lens to the retina. When the light finally reaches the retina, these lights are changed into different sorts of signals that the brain can gather and then follow the correct response from them. The reason cataract is such a problem in the first place, is that your eyes lens must be clear for your retina to be able to get a good image. If your lens is effected by cataracts this will make any images you see very blurred.
Important fact is there is more then one type of cataract that a person can get, even thought most of the cataract diseases are related to aging not all of them are. Many times people after they have had a full cataract surgery can have such eye problems, one of which is called glaucoma, if this is the case then the person what is called Secondary cataract this normally only happens to people who are diabetic or have had a surgery once before in there life to get rid of cataract. Traumatic Cataract, are cataracts that often forming after a person has an eye injury, this type of injury can show up a long time from when the actual damage to the eye happened.
